54Dean designs furniture and products for the residential and commercial markets. Todd Seidman and Paul Galli, the firm’s two partners, met at Pratt Institute's Master of Industrial Design program where under the tutelage of faculty including contract furniture designer Mark Goetz, they furthered a shared passion for furniture and housewares design. Todd and Paul bring 18 years of combined professional design experience to their work—Paul as a founding employee and Creative Director at the interactive design firm AGENCY.COM, Todd as a set designer for commercial film and TV. It is this breadth of professional experience, combined with a formal training in industrial design that provides the foundation for the firm’s unique approach.

54Dean is proud in its young history to have attracted the attention of leading publications, including Interior Design, Metropolis, Surface, Dwell, The New York Times, Real Simple, Jane, and Organic Style. Genre magazine wrote of our work, “For decades, George Nelson’s classic 1947 slat bench/table, designed for Herman Miller has been reinterpreted by wannabe modernists—sometimes with compelling results, other times not. We’d say [with the Georgie table] that the designers at Brooklyn’s 54Dean have done the master proud.”

54Dean has ceased regular operations. However, if you'd like to contact us about any of our previous products, please email us here:
